Genetic laboratories
Genetic laboratories
MGA genetic laboratories are designed to perform complex genetic and genomic analyses. The respective laboratory facilities located in Bratislava, Nitra and Košice, enable performing analyses of various scopes and degrees. In order to ensure ideal efficiency and operability of the use of key equipment, the laboratories enable implementation of individual analyses with different levels of complexity and difficulty. With this characterization in mind, the labs with the most basic design are located in Bratislava, more complex laboratories are operated in Košice and the most comprehensive laboratories are in Nitra.
The laboratories in Bratislava primarily provide the collection and basic processing of biological samples into a form enabling determination of qualitative and quantitative characteristics followed by long-term archiving in the biobank. The labs therefore operate facilities such as aseptic box, pipettes, thermoblocks, shakers, centrifuges, low and high power automatic nucleic acid extraction systems, nucleic acid quantification equipment.
The more complex laboratories in Košice not only operate the infrastructure for basic processing of biological samples enabling biobanking, but also devices for basic and intermediate genetic analyses such as targeted detection and analysis of genomic type variants at qualitative and quantitative levels or conventional (Sanger method) sequencing of nucleic acids. These laboratories in particular operate facilities such as aseptic box, pipettes, thermoblocks, shakers, centrifuges, automatic cell extractor, high-performance automatic nucleic acid extraction system, nucleic acid quantification device, nucleic acid and protein qualification and quantification device using capillary electrophoresis, PCR cycler, qPCR cycler with the possibility of HRM analysis, capillary genetic analyzer for fragment analyses and conventional sequencing.

The Nitra facility operates the most comprehensive laboratories where basic, intermediate and advanced analyzes are centralized. The lab therefore carries out comprehensive laboratory activities ranging from the collection and processing of samples, including biobanking, to genomic analyses. To this end, the laboratories in Nitra operate devices such as aseptic boxes, pipettes, thermoblocks, shakers, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and deep-freezing boxes for biobanking of samples, high-performance automatic nucleic acid extraction system, high-performance nucleic acid quantification equipment, equipment for qualification and quantification of nucleic acids and proteins by capillary electrophoresis, devices for computer - controlled size fractionation of nucleic acids using gel electrophoresis, PCR cyclers, system for comparative genomic hybridization analyzes, medium-power genomic sequencer.
