Associate Professor Stupák is a specialist in biochemistry. He works at the Institute of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ in Košice, as a Deputy Head for pedagogical activities.
As part of his pedagogical practice, he participates in the preparation and conducting of lectures, seminars and practical exercises carried out by the Institute of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry. He is a supervisor of diploma and dissertation theses and a member of the commission for state graduation exams.
In his scientific work, he has so far focused on the structure and stability of biomacromolecules, mitochondrial and heme proteins. He completed a several-month postdoctoral study stay at the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Rice University in Houston (USA), in which he participated in the study of the mechanism of proton translocation by terminal oxidases, which remains a key problem in molecular bioenergetics.
He is the author and co-author of several original scientific publications, the author and co-author of monographs, scripts and textbooks. He is a member of the Slovak Medical Society and the Slovak Society for Clinical Biochemistry.
